Before they found their farm in Centralia, Jenifer spent two growing seasons as a farm hand in Snohomish, learning the ropes. This is their fourth year growing, and it's still just Jenifer and Albert running the show—everything they grow is the work of one human. (Sometimes 1.25, if you count the help.)
There's a lot more that goes into your food than most people ever see, and Curious Bird is a prime example of that. From picking out fun seed varieties to figuring out how to actually get them to grow, months of long days go into every harvest, and the weather has the final say every time. They put a lot of love into their work, and they hope you can taste it.
Practices
Jenifer and Albert don't reach for anything that doesn't come from the environment around them. Their soil is cared for by animals and humans, not heavy machinery—it's the foundation of everything else they grow, and they’re proud of how they tend it.
The Food Hub gives them somewhere to send their bumper crops—the ones they could never move through a farmers market alone. When the cucumbers come in, they really come in, and it's good to know they won't go to waste.
